Following Raul

United States, 2017, 22 min.

In English.

This documentary is about an Hispanic former gang member from Barstow, California, who is released after five years from Chino prison, his re-entry into society, and what he comes up against in his attempt to start a new life.

Director's Statement

I followed Raul for four years after his release from prison. I was impressed by his intelligence, and work while still in prison towards helping others not make the same mistakes he did. Would the system help or hinder him upon his release? How would Raul fare in his return to society with the label of felon? These were some of the questions that I hoped to answer on the journey.

Category: Documentary, Festival Alum.
