All You Need Is Fuzz: 30 Years in a Garage Band

Timothy Gassen
United States, 2018, 89 min.

This film is family friendly.

"ALL YOU NEED IS FUZZ" follows the improbable 30-year journey of garage-psych maestros The Marshmallow Overcoat, a truly independent band which survived decades of changing trends, commercial resistance -- and each other. The Tucson, Arizona band enjoyed international tours, global TV exposure, college radio hits, and more than 30 records released in the U.S. and Europe. "ALL YOU NEED IS FUZZ: 30 years in a garage band" gives a rare insider's glimpse into how a no-budget rock band rehearses, makes records, climbs in a van to take their show on the road -- and then survive to tell their story.

Director's Statement

Garage bands keep rock music alive. "ALL YOU NEED IS FUZZ: 30 years in a garage band" is for anyone who ever dreamed of being in a band ... and those who survived that dream. I have lived this life for decades -- and as a musician, songwriter, studio producer, music publisher, music journalist and author, and film director I see first-hand just how difficult it is to be in a band -- and survive.
