Bus

Lee Gwang-jin
South Korea, 2018, 10 min.

In Korean with English subtitles.

A bus is en route and Miyoung looks around looking a bit anxious. Most seats are vacant but there is a man standing beside her. She peeks at the man and notices that the man is tilting his cellphone toward her as if he is photographing her. She is concerned about being stuck on a bus between stops. What if this man next to her is a killer?

Director's Statement

Many women experience some sort of sexual violence on a day to day basis and most have been victims of sexual assault. In such situations, fear tends to silence these victims. The victim becomes a helper for another victim, but is forced to become a spectator when faced with the cruel, unchanging reality. It is my hope that sexual violence be viewed as a collective issue rather than an individual one.
